On 4th March 2014, the EBP Interest Group in Optometry met for the second time. The group learnt about the third step of the EBP process by critically appraising a paper that could provide answers to their chosen scenario of blue-light blocking lenses. The PowerPoint slides and Critical Appraisal Tool used on the night can be found on eboptometry.com by clicking on the linked text.
Members of the group are currently drafting an editorial focusing on the findings discussed that evening; members interested to participate in this process can do so by contacting us at eboptometry@unsw.edu.au.
The evening also featured our first trial of the use of a collaborative webinar platform. We are happy to report that thanks to several regional, interstate and overseas optometrists who joined us on the evening and gave us some fantastic feedback, we will be running all future workshops in this blended format (face-to-face + collaborative webinar). This is so that you can all participate, no matter where you are located.
The next EBP workshop evening is planned for Friday 23 May starting from 7pm. Hope to see many of you there (face-to-face or online).
Isabelle Jalbert and Barbara Junghans on behalf of the EBP Optometry team.
